He is ramping down some of his work commitments and ramping up on his role as chair of Leicester Wheels for All
Completed assignments during last three years include, for Department of Health, a key UK-wide ICT project for the recruitment to the NHS of foundation doctors, for NESTA, a consultancy on a UK social innovation services framework agreement and a review of Adult Audiology Services for the former Derbyshire PCT Previously he worked with NHS London Workforce Directorate on its commercial strategy and supporting the Department of Health on two assignments, the first of which was as commercial lead for the NHS Next Stage Review Programme and the creation of Health Innovation and Education Clusters (HIECs).
He worked with SHAs and PCTs, supporting them to procure and contract for care, education and ICT services and with service providers as a commercial adviser. There will be a lot of change implemented over the next few years and this will continue to be the focus of our work over the coming months. He works with Specialised Commissioning Groups and CCGs in areas where he has direct experience such as mental health (medium secure, mother and baby and adult acute), audiology, diabetes, community renal services and education commissioning).
Social Innovation is an emerging field for public service and we expect that this will be a key area of our work. Incremental change is not an option and we will be clear about this to our clients. If radical change is not the goal it is probably best not to commission work from us. We will build on current experience and partnerships with social innovators such as the Centre for Public Innovation and deploy our commerical expertise to foster the optimum services during the current climate of budget reduction and austerity.
Peter manages communications successfully although he has a lifelong severe hearing impairment.
He was formerly Director of the North Central London NHS Collaborative Procurement Hub and Director of Procurement at the University of Nottingham.
